A. V. Meiyappan

1907–1979

A. V. Meiyappan founded AVM Productions in 1945 and ran it until his death, making it the oldest surviving studio in India and one of the very few to work in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi at once.

The Hindi output includes Bhai Bhai, Chhoti Bahen, Main Chup Rahungi and Do Kaliyaan. He began selling gramophone records in Karaikudi and ended with a studio that outlived him by fifty years.
