Abhi Bhattacharya

1921–1993

Abhi Bhattacharya played the upright one: the doctor, the teacher, the elder brother who disapproves on principle. He came from Bengali cinema and worked in Hindi from the 1950s.

Jagriti, Subah Ka Tara, Anuradha, Aradhana, Amar Akbar Anthony. He is also in a great many of the devotional films of the 1970s, where that same rectitude was exactly what was wanted.
