Achala Sachdev

1920–2012

Achala Sachdev began on radio in Lahore and acted in Hindi films for sixty years, almost always as somebody's mother - most famously Balraj Sahni's wife in Waqt, where *Ae meri zohra jabeen* is sung to her.

She worked from the 1940s into the 2000s and spent her last years in Pune.
