Don was got up by Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Pran and Chandra Barot so that Nariman Irani, a cinematographer deep in debt after a flop, would have a film to produce. A wall killed Irani on Kranti's set before it was released; Barot finished it and the profits went to his widow.
