Amrish Puri as Mogambo, built out of Ibn-e-Safi's Urdu pulp novels and played at a pitch nobody else would have risked. Filmfare ranked him the second-most iconic villain in Indian cinema, and 'Mogambo khush hua' is still used in conversation to mean 'I approve'.
