Bharat Bhushan
1920–1992
Bharat Bhushan was the poet-saint of 1950s Hindi cinema: Baiju Bawra, Mirza Ghalib, Basant Bahar, Sangeet Samrat Tansen. Baiju Bawra in 1952 made him a star and made Naushad's reputation at the same time.
His production company failed, the parts shrank through the 1960s, and he spent his last years in very small roles - he appears in Chandni. It is the most often cited rise and fall in the industry's memory.
