Chandra Barot

1939–2025

Chandra Barot directed one film. He had assisted Manoj Kumar for years when Nariman Irani, deep in debt, asked him to make something that would clear it - and the result was Don.

Irani died before it was released, and Barot never directed another feature. Don did modest business at first and became, over the following decades, one of the most quoted films in Hindi cinema. He died in 2025.
