Dara Singh

1928–2012

Dara Singh was a wrestler before he was an actor and was never entirely not one - he held the Commonwealth title, fought internationally for two decades, and retired undefeated. Films took him for the obvious reasons and then found he could act.

He is Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, which is how most of India knows him, and he is in Anand in a smaller part. He was later nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
