Dulari

Character actress; mothers, maids and aunts across six decades · 1928–2013

Dulari was born in Nagpur on 18 April 1928. Her father's illness made her take a job at National Studio, at 100 rupees a month, and she made her screen debut in Bombay Talkies' Hamari Baat (1943). She went on to appear in over 135 films across six decades, playing mothers, maids and aunts. In the films here she plays Mrs. Pratap Singh in Padosan (1968) and the maid in Sharmilee (1971).

Her last years were lonely. She died in an old-age home in Pune on 18 January 2013, and the Cine and TV Artistes Association had begun helping her financially after Waheeda Rehman raised her case.
