Farida Jalal

1949–

Farida Jalal was a teenager when Taqdeer put her on screen, and she has played, in order, the younger sister, the leading woman, the sister again, and then for twenty-five years the warmest mother Hindi cinema has had.

Aradhana, Paras, Henna, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dharmatma. She also carried Dekh Bhai Dekh on television. Few careers in the industry have had that many distinct phases.
