Feroz Khan

1939–2009

Feroz Khan built a persona out of things Hindi cinema did not have: leather, horses, Westerns, a Bangalore drawl. He acted from 1960 and began directing in 1972, and what he directed looked unlike anything else being made.

Dharmatma (1975), which he produced, directed and starred in, is The Godfather relocated and was the first Indian film shot in Afghanistan. Qurbani followed in 1980 with Nazia Hassan's Aap Jaisa Koi. His brother Sanjay Khan and son Fardeen also acted.
