Gulshan Bawra

1937–2009

Gulshan Bawra wrote lyrics for about a quarter of a century and acted in small parts in some of the same films - he is in Zanjeer, whose songs he also wrote, which is an unusual pair of credits.

*Yari Hai Imaan Mera*, Sher Khan's song, is his. So is *Mere Desh Ki Dharti*, which won him the Filmfare award in 1968. He came to Bombay from Lahore after Partition, having lost his parents in it.
