Urdu poet and journalist who wrote the songs of Nikaah and Dahleez · 1943–

Hasan Kamal is an Urdu poet and journalist, born in 1943 according to Rekhta's poet directory, who wrote lyrics for a handful of Hindi films, several of them for B. R. Films. His songs are in Silsila (1981), Nikaah (1982), Tawaif (1985) and Dahleez (1986), the last composed by Ravi. He was still alive and active in December 2021, when he spoke at an Urdu book fair in Malegaon. He should not be confused with the Pakistani poet Hasan Akbar Kamal, born in Agra in 1946, who died in Karachi in 2017: search results mix the two up.
