J. Om Prakash

1927–2019

J. Om Prakash produced from the 1950s and directed from 1970, and made a run of domestic dramas with Aap Ki Kasam, Aakhir Kyon? and Apnapan - the last of which won him a Filmfare nomination and gave Reena Roy her award.

He is the grandfather of Hrithik Roshan and the father-in-law of Rakesh Roshan, which makes him the start of a line that runs through a great deal of later Hindi cinema.
