A gold medallist out of the Film and Television Institute who arrived in Hindi cinema with a naturalism it was not used to. Guddi in 1971 was a film about a schoolgirl infatuated with the movies, and she played it without a trace of performance.
Radha in Sholay has almost no dialogue. The part is built out of looking, and out of one recurring shot of her putting out the lamps. Uphaar, Koshish, Abhimaan and Mili came in the same few years, after which she largely stopped to raise a family and returned decades later in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa and Kal Ho Naa Ho.
