Johnny Walker
1926–2003
Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi was a bus conductor in Bombay who got his break performing a drunk act for Balraj Sahni, and took his screen name from a whisky despite never drinking. Guru Dutt used him in almost everything he made.
He was the comedian of the 1950s and 1960s - Pyaasa, Mr. & Mrs. 55, Chaudhvin Ka Chand - with songs written for him that became hits in their own right. He largely retired when film comedy turned coarser, and came back once, for Kamal Haasan, in 1998.
