Joy Mukherjee

1939–2012

Joy Mukherjee came from a film family - his father Sashadhar Mukherjee ran Filmalaya - and was a light romantic lead through the 1960s in Love in Simla, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Shagird and Ziddi.

His career faded by the early 1970s and an attempt at directing did not revive it. He is one of the stars of that decade whose films are better remembered than he is.
