Keshto Mukherjee
Indian film actor and comedian (1925-1982)
A Bengali actor who came to Bombay and found himself cast, almost without exception, as a drunk. He played it hundreds of times and made something oddly delicate out of it - a hiccup, a pause, a man concentrating very hard on standing still.
He worked constantly through the 1970s in Hindi and Bengali cinema. The typecasting was total and he never seems to have escaped it, which is the usual price for being very good at one thing in that industry.
