Khayyam
1927–2019
Mohammed Zahur Khayyam composed for Hindi films for fifty years and did it slowly, taking one or two pictures where others took ten, which is why almost all of them are remembered.
Umrao Jaan, Kabhi Kabhie, Razia Sultan, Bazaar, Trishul, Noorie, Sawaal. He set Urdu poetry in a register nobody else attempted, and won the National Award for Umrao Jaan. Late in life he gave most of his savings to a trust for artists and technicians.
