Laxmikant
1937–1998
Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar was half of Laxmikant-Pyarelal, the composing partnership that scored something over five hundred films across thirty-five years - more Hindi film music than any other single credit.
He played the mandolin as a child to support his family and met Pyarelal at a music school for the children of musicians. They worked together from 1963 until Laxmikant's death in 1998, after which Pyarelal largely stopped.
