Indian playback singer and composer (1919-2013)

Prabodh Chandra Dey, trained in Hindustani classical music, who sang around four thousand songs in several languages and was the voice the industry reached for when a song had to be technically difficult.

He sang the classical pieces other playback singers would not attempt - Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Poocho Na Kaise - and took the comic and the folk with the same care. In Sholay he shares Yeh Dosti with Kishore Kumar. Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007, Padma Bhushan in 2005.
