Manohar Singh
1938–2002
Manohar Singh was one of the finest stage actors India has had, a pillar of the National School of Drama Repertory Company and later its chief, whose Tughlaq and King Lear are still described by people who saw them.
He acted in films when a part was worth the time away from the theatre: Party, Utsav, Hero Hiralal, Chandni. The stage work is the real achievement and almost none of it was filmed.
