Nadira
1932–2006
Florence Ezekiel was a Baghdadi Jew from Bombay who became Nadira, and played the vamp before the role had a name - Maya in Shree 420, who sings *Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh*, is the one that fixed it.
She refused to be typecast quietly and had a second career in character parts, winning the Filmfare award for Julie in 1976. She is in Amar Akbar Anthony. She lived alone in Bombay and was known for a very sharp tongue in interviews.
