P. Jairaj
1909–2000
Paidi Jairaj arrived in Bombay in 1929 and acted in silent films before sound, which puts his career across almost the entire history of Indian cinema - he worked for more than six decades and was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1980.
He was a leading man in the 1930s and 1940s, often in historical roles, and a character actor long after. By the time of Don he had been acting for fifty years.
