Rishi Kapoor

1952–2020

Rishi Kapoor was the third generation of his family to lead Hindi films, after Prithviraj and Raj Kapoor, and he arrived as a child actor in his father's Mera Naam Joker before taking the lead in Bobby at twenty. For the next decade he was the romantic hero the industry had while Amitabh Bachchan was the angry one.

He made more than ninety films with that face and then, in his fifties, became a character actor of real force - Do Dooni Chaar, Agneepath, Kapoor & Sons, Mulk. He played opposite Neetu Singh a dozen times before marrying her in 1980. He died in 2020, a day after Irrfan Khan.
