Sagar Sarhadi
1933–2021
Sagar Sarhadi came from Baffa in what is now Pakistan, wrote for the Urdu stage, and brought that to Hindi film dialogue - Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Noorie. He is one of the writers who made Yash Chopra's romances sound like something other than film dialogue.
He directed once, Bazaar (1982), about the sale of young women from Hyderabad into marriages in the Gulf, and it is the work he was proudest of.
