Sanjeev Kumar
Indian film actor (1938-1985)
Haribhai Jariwala, who acted under the name Sanjeev Kumar, had a trick nobody else in Hindi cinema could do: he played men far older than himself and was believed. He was in his thirties when he played the Thakur, and had already played grandfathers.
He won two National Awards, for Dastak and Koshish - the latter as a deaf and mute man, performed almost entirely without speech. Aandhi, Angoor, Mausam, Trishul. In Sholay he spends the film with his hands hidden and acts with his shoulders. He died at forty-seven, with several films still unreleased.
