Shatrughan Sinha

1945–

Shatrughan Sinha came out of the Film and Television Institute in Pune and spent his first years playing villains, which in the early 1970s was the only door open to a face like his. Then the villains got better lines than the heroes and he became one.

Kaala Patthar, Shaan, Naseeb and Dostana put him beside Amitabh Bachchan repeatedly, usually as the man with the second-best entrance. He went into politics in the 1990s, served as a union health minister, and has sat in parliament for three different parties.
