Subhash Ghai
1945–
Subhash Ghai came out of the Film and Television Institute wanting to act, failed at it, and became the showman of the 1980s and 1990s instead - Karz, Hero, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Khalnayak, Pardes, Taal.
Karz (1980) is the reincarnation film that Hindi cinema kept remaking, and its Om Shanti Om sequence is still quoted. He founded the film school Whistling Woods in 2006.
