Sunder played the comic turn in Hindi films from the 1940s to the 1970s - the clerk, the servant, the friend who is afraid of everything.

He appeared in several hundred films in parts that were rarely written down in any detail, including Apnapan. He is one of the faces that make the period's crowd scenes recognisable.
