Gujarati stage star; Mrs. Gupta in Koshish

Urmila Bhatt was a star of Gujarati theatre, famous for the play Jesal Toral, who acted in some seventy-five Gujarati films and a number of Rajasthani ones before playing mothers and elder women in Hindi cinema. In Koshish (1972) she is Mrs. Gupta. Television viewers know her as Sita's mother in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan (1987). She was found murdered at her home in Juhu on 22 February 1997. Her birth year is unsettled, given as 1933 or 1934 by different sources.
