Usha Khanna
1941–
Usha Khanna was one of only two women composing for Hindi films in the 1960s and the only one who sustained it - she scored around two hundred films over four decades, in an industry that did not employ women to do it.
Dil Deke Dekho, Hum Hindustani, Shabnam, Souten, Saajan Bina Suhagan. Souten's Shayad Meri Shaadi Ka Khayal is hers. She also produced films herself when nobody would hire her.

Dil Deke Dekho (1959)
One of the very few women ever to work as a music director in Hindi cinema. She started here at twenty-four with Mohammed Rafi singing everything she wrote, and was still composing forty years on - Hum Hindustani in 1960 and Aao Pyar Karen in 1964 are both hers.
