Zeenat Aman
1951–
Zeenat Aman was Miss Asia Pacific before she was an actress, and Dev Anand's Hare Rama Hare Krishna made her a star playing a character the film disapproves of. She spent the decade in parts written as modern and western - Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Don, Qurbani.
Roma in Don is the sharpest of them: a woman inside the gang with her own reason, who fights and is not rescued. She stopped working in the late 1980s and returned to public life in her seventies, largely on her own terms and through her own account of it.
