Description
Despite the name, this is not a Tongan station: it is one of the streams of Antennaweb, a volunteer-run Italian web radio based in Assisi in Umbria. The story starts in 1976, when four teenagers put a free radio called Radio Antenna Petrignano on air with basic gear in the countryside between Perugia and Assisi; two of them, Carlo Mantovani and Matteo Morelli, brought it back on 1 June 2020 and rebuilt it as a web station with more than fifty presenters. The output is in Italian and deliberately wide, taking in rock, electronic, jazz, disco and Italian pop alongside music and book reviews, sport and news strands such as Passione Sport and Notizie dal Mondo. It carries no advertising and describes itself as a free radio with no commercial or profit aim, run entirely on volunteers.
