Description
Femme Pawa is the newest of the three radio services run by the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation, the country's national broadcaster, and it launched in 2019 on 99 FM out of Port Vila. VBTC bills it as the Pacific's first women's radio station, created to raise the voice of Vanuatu women and to carry the stories and views of ni-Vanuatu women, young and old, along with people living with disability. It sits alongside Radio Vanuatu, the broadcaster's front-line national service, and Paradise 98FM, the youth and commercial music station. Programming is overseen by VBTC's radio production team and goes out mainly in Bislama, the country's lingua franca, which is how most VBTC radio output reaches listeners.
