Description
Glglz, written גלגלצ in Hebrew and usually spoken as Galgalatz, is the music arm of Israel's army radio, started in 1993 as a joint venture between the Israel Defense Forces and the transport ministry to keep drivers company. That origin still shapes the sound, with frequent traffic bulletins and news at the top of the hour cutting into a steady run of Hebrew and English pop and rock. Its Thursday chart show, counting down the leading Israeli and international songs, is treated within the industry as the country's pop barometer, and a big international countdown closes out each year. It is heard nationwide and reaches roughly 1.3 million listeners.

Imperva/Incapsula blocked every request from my own connection on both the bare and www hosts, over http and https, to curl and to python-urllib alike, so the whole block came from the operator's browser, which passed straight through.

One character: the stored URL has no trailing slash, and without it the site serves a maintenance splash reading that the site is under maintenance. With the slash it loads the real Galgalatz section immediately. That is almost certainly why an earlier pass recorded this station as unreadable, and meanwhile a listener clicking through from our page got a maintenance notice. |
What we found and did not publish
Material that would have made this page fuller, and was refused. A page with five named presenters looks better than a page with none even when the five are a website theme's demonstration content, and the difference is invisible to a reader. So it is recorded here instead.
