Description
Hot 102.7FM broadcasts to greater Johannesburg from Sandton and made its name on old skool and rhythm and blues from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, with a deliberate policy of long music runs and little presenter talk. It is the reinvention of Classic FM 102.7, a classical station founded in 1997 that fell into business rescue in 2019 and was relaunched under this name on 1 July 2021 by a new owner, the Professional Consortium. Its broadcasting licence still requires a half and half split, so old skool and rhythm and blues fill the day from 5am to 7pm and classical music takes the evening and overnight hours, an unusual pairing that gives the station two distinct personalities in twenty four hours. Presenters include several long serving names from South African radio, and the station also runs side streams for rock, easy listening, club and gold plus an Afrikaans music strand.

Material that would have made this page fuller, and was refused. A page with five named presenters looks better than a page with none even when the five are a website theme's demonstration content, and the difference is invisible to a reader. So it is recorded here instead.
