Description
Offshore Radio is a small internet rock station whose entire personality fits in one line: rock doesn't settle, it just moves offshore. There is no schedule and nobody on the microphone, only a single rolling playlist that runs day and night and plays like a very good jukebox. An hour of it takes in the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Foreigner, Elton John, Green Day, the Cardigans and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, mostly in remastered album versions. Tracks arrive back to back with no voice between them, which makes it good background listening and poor company. The site is one page: a player, a song history window, and a row of links to the platforms it is listed on.

The station's own site at offshoreradio.net describes it as broadcasting internationally from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the myTuner Radio listing I fetched gives the country as Marshall Islands and the city as Delap-Uliga-Djarrit, Majuro. The name is a rock-music conceit, not a reference to the European offshore pirate stations, so SC looks like a placeholder. |
