Description
Omulunga Radio is Namibia's leading commercial Oshiwambo-language station, on air since 2002 and run from Windhoek by Future Media Holdings. It works as a notice board for the Aawambo community, mixing Namibian and African popular music with news, weather, sport and a great deal of listener participation by phone and message. Bulletins and features are written and read in Oshiwambo, and listeners vote each week on the station's own Local Top 10 chart. Competitions and studio work out of the northern regions are a standing part of the schedule.

No language was stored. Omulunga's own site says it speaks to the Aawambo people of Namibia, and its news items and show descriptions are written in Oshiwambo, not English. Oshiwambo is a dialect cluster with no ISO 639-1 two-letter code, so the dialect-level two-letter codes ng and kj would be a near-miss; kua is the three-letter code Ethnologue registers under the name Oshiwambo. |
