Description
Radio Cotonou 94.3 is the city's own radio in Cotonou, the largest and busiest city in Benin, and it goes by the line La Voix des Cotonois, the voice of Cotonou people. It came on air in March 2023 after the city hall asked Benin's broadcasting authority for a frequency of its own, and it runs as a non commercial municipal station rather than a chart driven one. Around nine tenths of what it puts out is local: what the council is doing, what is happening street by street, and the everyday business of living in a city that keeps spreading. A staff of about twenty two keeps it going, and the brief is as much to educate and to entertain as to inform. Everything goes out in French.
