STVR styles this station Rádio_FM, underscore included, and it is the Slovak public broadcaster's alternative network, the one for people who want to hear a record before everyone else does. The playlist is broad and deliberately uncommercial: Slovak and Czech guitar bands next to world music, jazz, electronica and metal, with an album of the week rather than a hit of the week. Evenings and weekends are where the specialist shows live, from a Sunday morning hour of slow music to a Monday night metal show. Osmicka, its Sunday chart, is voted by listeners by text message and counts only Slovak and Czech records, which makes it one of the better places to hear what the local scene is actually doing.
