Description
Radio Olive is Qatar's Hindi station, on 106.3 FM and made squarely for the country's large South Asian community. It was the first private Hindi FM licence in the country and now claims more than 1.6 million listeners, with Bollywood at the centre of everything it does. The mood is deliberately upbeat, summed up by its own slogan, Jiyo Bindass. The day opens loud with Bindass Mornings, keeps the middle light and chatty with Life Mast Hai, spends the afternoon on film talk and trivia in Olive Recharge, and once it gets dark Midnight Lounge hands the hours over to the golden age of Hindi film song. Fridays and Thursdays run late with a club slot, and the station works hard offstage too, on events, competitions and celebrity visits.
