Description
RadioOne Stereo is a national Swahili station broadcasting out of Mikocheni in Dar es Salaam, part of the IPP Media family that also runs ITV, Capital Radio and East Africa Radio. It reaches most of the country on its own FM transmitters, from Arusha in the north down through Dodoma and Morogoro to Tabora, Mwanza and Bukoba on the lake. The day is built around the newsroom: a full bulletin at breakfast, again at lunch and twice in the evening, with shorter briefs slotted between. Around that sit the things people tune in for by name, the Kumepambazuka breakfast show, the Nipashe current affairs slot, family talk in Mazungumzo ya Familia, sport in Spoti Leo and Muziki na Michezo, and the Top 20 countdown. Late on it hands over to the DJs for Midundo Motomoto and Afro Tizii, and there is a children's show at the weekend.
