Description
A Caracas institution, on the air since 1 December 1949 and still calling itself the station of Venezuela. It began in the Edificio Junín in El Silencio and now broadcasts from the Edificio Tecoteca in Chacao, carrying Noti-Rumbos, the newscast it launched in 1959 and once described as the newspaper printed on the radio. The weekday opens gently with a breakfast programme, hardens into the morning news edition, and then runs through current affairs, a long midday magazine and an afternoon health hour. Late afternoon turns musical with a merengue show before the evening newscast, and the night belongs to live professional baseball. It is a talk station with a warm, old-fashioned Caracas accent, and it still invites listeners to phone in during the morning show.
