Radio Vaterland is real, and it exists because something else stopped. When Liechtenstein's public station Radio Liechtenstein came off the air, the principality's only daily newspaper filled the silence: its publisher, the Vaduzer Medienhaus, launched this station in March 2025, first as a web stream and then on DAB. It deliberately refuses to pick a format, and the running order is assembled by software from several thousand pre-cleared songs, so a piece of local folk music can be followed straight away by Die Ärzte or Ski Aggu. News comes hourly, put together with AI help, read by voices cloned from people who work at the newspaper. The result is an unusually honest little station: a newsroom's radio arm that tells you outright how much of it is machine made, and it will take your song request through the website.
