Description
Timveni Radio is the radio arm of the Timveni Child and Youth Media Organisation, which describes itself as using "radio and television to give a voice to Malawi's young people, especially girls, on children's rights". The organisation says it was launched in 2011 as a platform where children and youths could "express their views, sharpen their talents and expose their skills" at a time when mainstream platforms were dominated by adult-focused content, and that it is registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act (1962). It now calls itself "the premier media outlet for young people", running music and talk shows alongside a television service and a newsroom. It says most programmes are also live streamed on its own Timveni Online Facebook page.

Worth knowing
The country filed for this row is right and the Eswatini suspicion is wrong. Everything on the operator's own site places it in Malawi: Lilongwe in the header, "Malawi's young people" in its self-description, registration under the Malawian Trustees Incorporation Act (1962), a .mw domain it actually controls, and a four-year Child Not Bride project it says it runs with Plan International Malawi and Plan Norway in Nkhata Bay, Karonga and Mzimba districts. The station also publishes its own audience claim: that the May to June 2023 MACRA and NSO survey ranked Timveni Radio sixth of 23 national radio stations with a 7.0 percent share.
