Madhavan and Simran play a young couple whose marriage seems ideal until something from the husband's past surfaces and shakes their trust. What follows is a story of hurt, stubbornness and ego, with each partner unwilling to bend, while the people around them, including the character played by Sneha, are drawn into the rift. Paarthale Paravasam ("spellbound at first sight") was K. Balachander's 100th film as director, a milestone for one of the most influential film-makers in Tamil cinema. A. R. Rahman composed the songs, and Raghava Lawrence, better known then as a dance choreographer, appears in an acting role.
