Mahira is a Kannada action thriller about a single mother whose ordinary life in coastal Karnataka hides a past she has kept even from her daughter. When armed men track her down, mother and daughter are pulled into a fight for survival, and the daughter learns who her mother really was. Virginia Rodrigues plays the mother, with Chaithra J. Achar as the daughter and Raj B. Shetty in a key supporting role. It was a debut feature for director Mahesh Gowda and stands out for putting two women at the centre of an action story. It circulates in Hindi as Lady Gangster.
