The film opens 1,600 years ago with Bodhidharma, a Pallava prince who travelled to China and taught medicine and martial arts. In present-day Chennai, Subha, a young genetics researcher, discovers that Aravind, a circus performer, carries Bodhidharma's DNA and believes she can revive his ancestor's knowledge. China sends Dong Lee, a lethal agent with hypnotic powers, to stop her and to spread a virus in India as part of a secret operation. This Tamil science-fiction action thriller (the title means seventh sense) was one of the most expensive Tamil films of 2011, with Suriya in a double role and Shruti Haasan in her first Tamil lead. Vietnamese martial-arts actor Johnny Tri Nguyen plays the villain, and the Harris Jayaraj songs were popular.
