Unnai Thedi (1999)

Unnai Thedi is a Tamil romantic drama from Sundar C starring Ajith Kumar and Malavika, with Vivek handling the comedy. The title means "searching for you": Ajith plays a city-bred young man who goes looking for a woman connected to his family's past, and in the process falls in love and gets drawn into the feuds and expectations of her village household. The film mixes romance, family sentiment and action with Sundar C's usual light touch, and Deva's songs were well received. It came from the phase of Ajith's career just before he became a full-fledged action star. In Hindi it has been released as Pehredaar.
